Each project acts as a container for your research materials, known as “sources.” You can add content in several ways:
- File Uploads: PDF, TXT, Markdown, audio (mp3), and image files.
- Web Content: Enter a webpage URL to analyze its text.
- YouTube Videos: Add a link to a public YouTube video to analyze its transcript.
- Pasted Text: Paste your own text directly into the analyzer.

Managing Source Activation #
When you add multiple sources to a project, you’ll notice a toggle (on/off switch) next to each item. This lets you activate or deactivate any source with a single click.
- Active Source: When the toggle is switched on, the AI includes that source in the next analysis or prompt. All active sources are processed together to generate results.
- Inactive Source: When switched off, the source is ignored. It stays in your project for future use, but it doesn’t count toward the current analysis.
Why Activate or Deactivate Sources? #
Not every source you collect will be relevant for every analysis. Activating only what’s useful keeps your results focused and saves credits. If you try to analyze a mix of unrelated materials (“salmigundi”), the AI won’t be able to connect the dots in a meaningful way. To get quality insights, sources should have a clear purpose and relate to your research question.
- Use Case Example:
If you’re comparing two academic papers, activate only those papers. If you add a YouTube interview just for context, keep it active only if it’s directly relevant. For a targeted analysis (like extracting themes from one article), deactivate all other sources except the one you want to focus on.
Practical Tips #
- Purposeful Selection:
Always have an idea of what you want to achieve with your sources. Add only materials that serve your analysis goal.- If you’re not sure, try running the analysis with fewer sources and gradually add more.
- Resource Management:
The more sources you activate, the more credits you’ll use in a single analysis. Keeping only necessary sources active is the best way to optimize credit consumption and speed up processing. - Easy Adjustment:
You can activate or deactivate sources at any time. This gives you the flexibility to re-run analyses with different combinations of materials without deleting anything.
What Happens if You Mix Unrelated Sources? #
The AI works best when given sources with a clear relationship to your research question. Adding a mix of unrelated sources (random book excerpts, news articles, and YouTube videos that have nothing in common) will confuse the analysis. The results may be shallow, unfocused, or not helpful. Think of your project as a well-organized research folder, only include what supports your work.
Plan Limits #
The number of sources you can add per project depends on your subscription:
Plan | Sources per Project |
---|---|
White Dwarf Monthly | 5 |
Blue Giant Monthly | 10 |
Red Giant Monthly | 20 |
White Dwarf Yearly | 30 |
Blue Giant Yearly | 40 |
Red Giant Yearly | 50 |
No Plan | 0 |
Unsupported Sources #
The service cannot analyze paywalled articles, or transcripts from private or newly uploaded YouTube videos.
Summary #
Activate only the sources you need for each analysis. Keeping your sources relevant and focused leads to better results, saves credits, and makes your research process much more effective. Use the activation toggle to manage your sources for every prompt—this small step can make a big difference in the quality and value of your insights.
